Marikina City Deploys 3-in-1 ID with TimeKeeping
Since 2006, Marikina City Hall employees have been using the Integrated Coverage for Employees (ICE) three-in-one card. The ICE card can be used to withdraw money since it’s a standard ATM card, as well as to log in and out of the office. The same card can also be used for identification purposes.
The card was distributed to the almost 2,000 employees of the city government.
“This is probably the first in Metro Manila. This will be very convenient for our employees,” said City Councilor Donn Favis in an interview with Inquirer.
The Marikina government had coordinated with the Philippine Veterans Bank, which handles the city’s salary payments, on the ICE Card.
The ICE Card will replace the employees’ existing ATM and ID cards. “This will make our payroll more accurate,” said Favis, who also heads the city management information system.
The NetSecure time and attendance monitoring system works in tandem with the cards and adds biometric security features to verify the identity of the employee.
