Mozcom Cebu Conducts Linux Tech Update
Oct 19, 2007— Mozcom Cebu held a Tech Update seminar at the Laguna Garden Cafe on Linux-related products and services designed to cater to the Visayas and Mindanao markets.
With over 50 people attending, the event featured an overview of current business directions by Cebu Branch Manager Michael Fernan. Mr. Fernan stressed the advantages of connecting to Mozcom's Internet services, while at the same time presenting the present line of business solutions, before proceeding to Mozcom's diversification efforts.
AVP Gerard Paul Java gave an overview of Linux and its present status in the business environment. This was followed by Mozcom Manila's Services and Applications Manager and Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) Victor Michael Blancas who gave a presentation on Linux virtualization. The final demonstration showed an example of integrating Linux as a fully-working member of a Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Server network, functioning as a file server, while authenticating using the Windows server database.
The event also served as Mozcom Cebu's launching of its new mLinux Power+ and mLinux PowerBox products and services. mLinux Power+ is Mozcom's new line of managed Linux installation, configuration, and maintenance services for various needs, while the PowerBox series consists of low-cost machines pre-installed with the Linux operating system.
