Mozcom Expands Wireless Offerings

 MICROWAVE AND SATELLITE OPTIONS LAUNCHED

Oct 21, 2008 — In an effort to reach out to more clients unserviceable by traditional wired access, Mozcom announces its partnership with Happy Communications and ComPoint Networks Inc.  The two partners provide wireless broadband local loop service in the 10Ghz frequency in Metro Manila and Metro Cebu, respectively.

NetConnect premium broadband Internet customers may use these wireless local loops as their primary link to Mozcom, or as a backup link configured for auto-failover in case the main connection fails.  The University of San Jose Recoletos in Cebu has been very satisfied with the performance of the network as compared to their previous connection via the crowded 2.4Ghz spectrum.

Wireless links have the advantage of fast deployment — usually in a week or two compared to wired which can  take up to 30 days.

For customers who are still too far to be reached by terrestrial-based microwave, Mozcom offers its partners’ IP Star satellite broadband service.  IP Star is operated by Thaicom and is the only satellite in orbit designed for high-speed, 2-way broadband communication over IP.  It is also the world’s heaviest civilian telecom satellite launched into geosynchronous orbit.
