Mozcom Offers Unified Threat Management Solution With Untangle

Oct 22, 2008 — Mozcom has been appointed by Untangle Inc. (www.untangle.com) as a reseller of its award-winning, open source security gateway solution in the Philippines.

Untangle was founded with the vision of untangling the complexities of technology, initially targeting network security and control for SME’s in 2002. The company, based in San Mateo, California, follows Open Source development practices to create better code and make it widely available.

The Untangle Gateway, the world’s first commercial-grade open source Unified Threat Management (UTM) solution for blocking spam, spyware, viruses, adware and unwanted content on the network such as porn, gambling, peer-to-peer sites, provides a free and better alternative to costly, inflexible proprietary appliances. Untangle’s applications are being used in hundreds of businesses in a variety of industries, including financial , real estate, education, and professional services.

Untangle has earned industry accolades since it became commercial, garnering awards such as the LinuxWorld 2007 Best Security Solution and InfoWorld’s Best of Open Source for 2008.

The Untangle Gateway is easy to install.  In most cases, in can be dropped onto an existing network in bridge configuration mode with hardly any change on the network topology.  It will just sit quietly between the router and the rest of the LAN, performing its security services.

For remote offices or remote users, the Virtual Private Networking (VPN) functionality will provide secure access.  Local files maybe accessed remotely and even local desktop remote controlled through its Remote Access Portal.

“Network security is become an integral part of connectivity.  It is no longer an ‘add-on’ unlike before,” says COO/CTO Dick Chiang.  “We will be doing more integration between Untangle and our NetConnect service in the near future, to ensure that our broadband customers experience worry-free Internet access.”
