Mr. Acoustic Named as myBookstore Endorser
“Well-written books have [the] power to make time fly, transcend worlds, and even transform lives,” shares local acoustic singer Paolo Santos. Beyond his musical world lies another that can only be reached by the imagination. Paolo brings this love for reading into his endorsement for myBookstore.ph.
It was during myBookstore’s official launch on March 16 that Mr. Acoustic was unveiled as the store’s official endorser. This was celebrated with a short concert that featured his most popular hits and his upcoming releases.
Although this journalist’s son grew up in a home with an impressive library of books, Paolo’s love for reading came much later on after he read Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park. His pre-Crichton self used to think that ”books only have two uses: for reports and for the graphics (comics)”. Apart from Crichton’s works, his favorite genres include biographies, Russian history, fiction (sci-fi or otherwise), British literature, and transcripts of interviews [with] famous or important people.
Like other bibliophiles, Paolo has “cultivated [some] terrible reading habits,” he laughingly says. “Do I read with bad lighting? Yes. Do I read while lying down? Yes again. Do I read until my eyes are so tired that they involuntarily shed tears? Yes.” Other books that have earned Mr. Acoustic’s stamp of approval include Nick Hornby’s High Fidelity, J.D. Salinger’s Catcher in the Rye, George Orwell’s Animal Farm, and Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons.
When Paolo’s desired titles haven’t hit the local shelves, he turns to the great worldwide marketplace that is the Internet. This was how he acquired his copy of Frank Miller’s Return of the Dark Knight. There is apparently nothing that can separate him from his reads. Is it any wonder that Paolo is the perfect poster boy for myBookstore? Visit http://www.mybookstore.ph for more details.
