Mozcom signs up the PBA
Manila, Philippines -- Asia's first play-for-pay basketball league,
the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), signs up with Mozcom for
the management and maintenance of its online presence. Mozcom will be
maintaining the popular www.pba.ph website
and extend it to mobile phone users through WAP, MMS and SMS. This new
partnership will allow PBA fans to access the latest information on the
league from different devices.
"Mozcom is very excited to be working with an institution like the
PBA," said Dick Chiang, COO/CTO of Mozcom. "In the coming months,
we will be rolling out several new interactive features that will bring
the league closer to its fan base. Fans can expect to see new features
like chat sessions with the players and video streaming of game highlights."
"We are happy to partner with Mozcom, in an effort to improve -
and enhance, -- our Internet presence. The expertise of our new partner
will undoubtedly help us in our desire to make the PBA experience complete,"
Comm. Noli Eala said.
The PBA is the country's first and only professional basketball league.
It was formed in 1975. Over the years, it has brought entertainment to
the Filipinos and elevated basketball as a national pastime. Its fabled
history spans the storied rivalry of Crispa and Toyota during the early
days, to the present crop of ten teams vying for the undulated attention
of the Filipinos.
Mozcom was established in 1994, making it the Philippines' 1st commercial
ISP. Its nationwide pure-IP backbone was the first of its kind, and to
this day, provides the infrastructure that runs corporate virtual private
networks (VPNs), the campus network of the major educational and research
institutions, and provides true dialup roaming for mobile users from Northern
Luzon to Southern Mindanao.
Mozcom is expanding to provide total business solutions. It also specializes
on open source, XML, Web Services, and mobile technology. Mozcom provides
anti-virus and anti-spam protection as standard features of its service.
