NetMachine Mini: Thin is In
July
1, 2005
Mozcom introduces the latest and smallest model of its IP-ready NetMachine
hardware product line--the NetMachine Mini NMM-100.
Weighing a measly 940
grams (without hard disk), the NMM-100 is only about the size of a
hardbound novel. It uses an 800Mhz VIA EDEN processor,
and comes with 256MB of DDR RAM. Connectivity to peripherals is provided
through 2 x USB ports, 1 x RS-232 serial port, 1 x parallel port, and
1 x RJ-45 ethernet port.
The integrated graphics acceleration card supports
CRT resolution of up to 1280 x 1024. The integrated sound card provides
audio features.
The ethernet has built-in boot ROM function so that
the appliance can be used as a thin client. It can also function as a
normal workstation
running MS Windows XP by installing a notebook-style 2.5" hard drive
on its EIDE port.
"The NMM-100 is the ideal platform for embedded applications," said
Paul Pongco, Head of Mozcom's Data Center. "We will be running our
various applications on it, like the NetSecure Timekeeper and Access
Control product lines. We will also be integrating it with our NetMachine
Kiosks for specialized applications. The fan-less design also makes it
a very quiet platform."
The NetMachines can be bought as pure hardware, or customers can avail
of NetCare. With NetCare, Mozcom will pre-install and pre-configure either
Windows or Linux server operating systems based on the client’s
requirements and will provide OS support. You may log in at http://www.mozcom.com/netmachine or email sales@mozcom.com to know more about Mozcom’s services.
