Premium Online Photo Developing Service Takes Flight

Dec 20, 2006 — Digital photography has become accessible to the general public since digital cameras became available in varied forms and different price ranges.  Although digital photography has created a lifestyle of sharing and storing photos electronically, it hasn’t eliminated the need for traditional prints.  Nothing compares to an old-fashioned photo album filled with physical photographs.  Passed around in family gatherings, exhibited in special events, these photos have a quality about them that is simply absent from digital images.

Launched this December 2006, Picatoo allows its users to develop their digital images from the comforts of their homes.  “We saw an opportunity in [digital photography developing] because of the growing number of digital camera owners and their need for a user-friendly and reliable online printing solution,” says Lea Dimalanta, Marketing Manager.  And with so many digital photos “stored online, it only made sense to create such a service,” notwithstanding the success of similar ventures in foreign countries.

Because Picatoo is a joint effort between Mozcom and Fuji YKL Color Lab, photos are printed using the Fuji Digital Frontier Minilab developing system, a crystallization of Fuji film’s imaging technology.  The customer is assured of optimum prints at reasonable prices.  The quality of Fuji prints enable us to assure our customers of “quality photographs in the form of prints that will last a lifetime.”  Aside from conventional-sized prints, Picatoo also prints photo posters up to the size of 12 x 18 inches. Specialized creations like customized mugs, calendars, mousepads, t-shirts, and more will also be available.

The website boasts of a simple system with a user-friendly interface and a robust payment system that accepts all major credit cards, ATM cards and others through PayEasy.  Picatoo prints are charged at the same price as a regular YKL Photo Developing Center.  The typical 4R-sized print costs Php7.00, and is available in either glossy or matte paper.  And for a minimum purchase of Php250 for Metro Manila, or Php300 for outside of Metro Manila, Picatoo prints are delivered for free to the customer’s house.
