Securing The Enterprise Desktop
Mar 31, 2008—Fingerprint authentication increases corporate security while maintaining a level of convenience that does not disrupt employee productivity. With passwords, users easily compromise security by sharing them, writing them down or utilizing the same password for multiple applications. Fingerprint authentication, unlike other solutions, is convenient for users and increases network security. Mozcom introduces the DigitalPersona (DP) Pro solution to the local market under its NetSecure product line.
DP Pro is a fingerprint-centric Enterprise Secure Sign-On solution that revolutionizes password management. It increases security without compromising convenience. “Unlike other authentication methods, it provides a unique identifier for each person that cannot be lost or utilized by others,” said Dick Chiang, Mozcom COO/CTO.
DP Pro software has a very intuitive user interface including menus and functions that make access to enterprise and Internet-based applications a single touch away. It also leverages existing Windows infrastructure and security conventions.
DP Pro may be installed on a standalone configuration or onto a Windows domain controller and then uses the Windows Active Directory (AD) technology. This tight integration with AD allows it to secure stored user authentication data; use existing access policies; provide application and policy management; provide load balancing and failover; and push application authentication and policy to end-users. The One Touch Crypto optional add-on allows users to encrypt files on their desktop, which may only be decrypted and opened with their fingerprint.
“With DP Pro, you can fingerprint-enable all of your enterprise applications effortlessly, “ added Chiang. “Audit trails on both server and clients can be access centrally.”
DP Pro enables corporate governance and compliance to regulations including HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, GSA Common Access Card and NIST FIPS 201.
DigitalPersona, founded in 1996, is the leader in biometric hardware and software authentication. Its technology was developed at CalTech by experts in pattern recognition and artificial intelligence. It has over 30 million users worldwide and hundreds of thousands of systems in production.
DP Pro is used by private companies such as Rite Aid, Crate & Barrel, Pizza Hut, Charles Schwab, and Cargill. It is also used by government units such as the US Dept of Defense, US Senate and the Social Security System of Shanghai, China
